The Output of Optocoupler of TOSHIBA will up to 20%

On 2022-Dec-Fri

According to the Nikkei Chinese website, Toshiba plans to increase the number of optocouplers used in the automotive field. It is estimated that by 2024, the capacity of the optocoupler of Toshiba's production company in Fukuoka, Japan, will be 20% higher than precedent.

Toshiba holds about 30% of the global optocoupler market. Besides Toshiba, Sharp and Reza are also major suppliers. In the domestic market, in recent years, companies that can produce vehicle gauge optocoupler devices, including Orund, have also emerged.

According to Toshiba's plan, from 2023 to 2024, the main investment will be the production line of optocoupler for pure electric and hybrid vehicles. The president of Buzen Toshiba said, "If it is only limited to production lines for EV and HEV, it is planned to increase the production capacity by more than three times in 2023 and five times by 2024". Part of the investment cost adopts the "decarbonization and business upgrading cost subsidy for semiconductor production equipment that is highly indispensable in the supply chain" of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

According to Nikkei estimates, the monthly production capacity of Toshiba optocoupler's main product lines will increase from 50 million at present to 60 million in two years.
